When Karen lay down and entered maintenance mode she had been expecting her usual weekly diagnostics, backup and software updates before being rebooted to carry on with her day. Instead the tech had opened her up and seemed to be carrying out some hardware upgrades in her CPU compartment.
Concerned and annoyed, Karen naturally tried to ask about the unexpected work but quickly realized that her vocal functions were offline as well as all motor systems. The tech's delicate attention to her exposed chest began to trigger autonomous arousal functions taxing Karen's selfware host drive which was already processing high levels of emulated anxiety and annoyance. She gasped silently as her personality began to malfunction, generating inappropriate responses. Unconcerned, the technician continued with the upgrade to this Class 3 unit. It wasn't unusual for personality software to try to object to modification or for units to malfunction while being worked on. She could always re-install Karen if she failed to boot correctly… |
