| Miranda had experienced several minor aberrations and couldn't risk a malfunction in front of the other board members; that would seriously undermine her authority. She had called tech support well before the meeting but by now she knew they must all be waiting on her.
The problem had been traced to a hardware fault and now she had no choice but to wait until she was fixed. Literally no choice since compliance with support staff was a condition of her company-owned body. Despite her anxiety, she knew better than to try and hurry the overly thorough technician. She knew from experience that the tech wouldn't listen, even to senior management like herself, and she really couldn't afford to be taken offline right now. Just so long as she didn't need factory repairs… |
