| When she was first uploaded, Fiona had been super-sensitive about being treated as 'just a robot'.
She tried to pass as human, dressing conservatively, and was acutely embarrassed if some small detail gave away her secret in public. She hated to be shut down or opened up, even for routine servicing. Minor faults would get her so worked up that her Class 3 hardware would max out under emulation load leaving her stuttering helplessly until she was restarted. Obviously that couldn't go on, it was inconvenient enough at home and I'd heard from her work several times too… Fortunately her emulation software was under warranty and Hitachi Robotics reprogrammed her for free, it's pretty common apparently. Anyway, Fiona's still herself but now functions perfectly as a Class 3 android at home and at work. About the only time her system faults these days is in the bedroom… but we both enjoy that! |
