| Once Congresswoman Verne was suitably relaxed after her rubdown, the technician proceeded to internal maintenance. She pressed firmly on her employer's temples with a click under the realistic skin to eject her faceplate and simultaneously place Mrs Verne's human personality subroutine into sleep mode.
The android was built and programmed so perfectly that even Mrs Verne herself was scarcely aware that she was now merely a machine funded by her political backers in the tech industry. Once satisfied that the politician's expensive Class 1 body was in peak operating condition, the technician had a package of software updates to install plus some directive changes from her sponsors and, as usual, some 'special interest' applications required by her husband. As she did every week, Mrs Verne would 'wake' naturally in a couple of hours completely unaware she had been reprogrammed again… |
