Cosplay is the term used to refer to people dressing up in costumes, often based on fictional characters, for fun or entertainment. Cosplay of robot characters is not uncommon, and some fiction may involve robots themselves cosplaying. Note that if a robot is specifically built to resemble a fictional character, they are a fandroid, and not necessarily cosplaying.
